West Michigan Bank Installs Wind Turbine.

The wind turbine atop Huntington’s downtown Muskegon building.

Last Spring I blogged about the installation of six wind turbines on the rooftop of Meijer Inc.’s headquarters in Walker, Michigan (located between Muskegon and Grand Rapids).  Meijer suggested that they were trying to set an example and that the actual power generation was not the reason for doing it.  It appears that their neighbor, Huntington Bank, has decided to follow suit.

Huntington recently installed a commercial-grade wind turbine at its Muskegon office.  The 1 kW wind turbine is anticipated to produce at least 2,000 kWH of electricity annually for the local power grid.  The turbine is the bank’s first renewable energy project and is a study site for possible future Huntington wind energy installations.

Although the turbine doesn’t produce much electricity, the small investment is good for the environment and is great marketing for the Bank.
