Save energy; save birds

25 Mar 2010

The periods of March 15 to May 31 and August 15 to October 31 are peak bird migration times here in Michigan and, to prevent birds from becoming losing their bearings and becoming exhausted or actually crashing into buildings, the Governor previously proclaimed this period “Safe Passage Great Lakes Days.”  This means that owners and managers of tall buildings are encouraged to turn off the lights (or alternatively screen lights from exterior windows) at the fifth floor and above from 11 pm through 6 am or dawn.  Save the birds, save energy and save money.
