HUD seeks to fund sustainable communities.

17 Feb 2012

Earlier this week, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that HUD’s fiscal year 2013 budget proposal includes $100 million to fund sustainable community planning and economic development throughout the country (Congress did not fund HUD’s Sustainable Community Grants for the 2012 fiscal year).  HUD also unveiled the creation of a Sustainability Resource Center webpage. Categories in the Resource Center include: economic competitiveness, housing and transportation choices, regional planning, green building and rural and tribal sustainability.  Looks like a pretty good resource of best-practices for sustainability projects with an added emphasis on sustainable housing and planning.
